“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” Richard Steele
“Books had instant replay long before televised sports.” Bern Williams

Diane Milosevich, District Librarian

In addition to encouraging reading, the library also serves as a research center. The library contains many sets of encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauruses, and atlases. It also contains a computer lab of approximately 30 laptops. Teachers may bring their classes to do research and to type reports. In addition, Mrs. Milosevich is always available to provide information literacy activities to all classes. Information Literacy is the ability to find information, evaluate it, and use it effectively.

Upcoming Activities

A Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the library during school hours on October 4-8. The book fair is a good opportunity fo students to purchase books at a reasonable cost as well as provide funds for the library. This would be a good opportunity for students to purchase books to read for the spring Battle of the Books. If any parent, grandparent, etc. is interested in helping at the book fair (it's fun!), you may call or email Mrs. Milosevich at dmilosevich@manhattan114.org

In early spring, a Battle of the Books will be held for all the grade levels. A Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program in which teams of students can demonstrate their knowledge of the books that they read.
