Staff Safety Training

Manhattan School District staff engaged in school safety training drills Wednesday afternoon.  The drills were focused on locking down, or ALICE procedures and protocols, in the event of a violent school event.  ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate.

Manhattan police, fire, and emergency service personnel were assisting with the drills and answering questions that staff members posed after the drills concluded.  Superintendent Rusty Ragon commented "our primary goal of the drills is to ensure our staff and students are safe in the event of a violent incident at school."

School safety drills will occur later this school year while students are present, a date is still to be determined.
