Dear Manhattan School District 114 Families,

Good evening! I want to start by saying just how wonderful it was to see all of our families at the three schools last night for “Meet the Teacher” and supply drop off. All of us certainly missed seeing all of our students. We are excited to welcome back all of our students tomorrow, Wednesday, August 24th, for our first day of the new school year!

As tomorrow quickly approaches, I have a couple of reminders that I wish to share with you in regards to transportation and school lunches.

  • Transportation:  In my last message, I reminded everyone of the tenuous situation that continues to exist with busing. As we continue to deal with a significant bus driver shortage, parents are asked to assist with the following:

  • Refrain from requesting bus stop changes. Please email pdeboer@manhattan114.org with any changes that are necessary.

  • With a limited number of drivers available, routes may experience significant delays throughout the school year. We will do our best to communicate delays to our families but ask parents to demonstrate patience when delays occur.

  • As an update, Dr. Tinlgey announced the loss of additional drivers and therefore informed LW210 HS parents of “blackout” dates for high school busing so that all Elementary District routes will be fully covered to begin the school year. In conjunction with sub bus drivers covering some of the routes and the usual time it takes to acclimate new students and Kindergarten students to riding the buses, we expect delays this first week. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as our top priority to is transport our students to school and back home safely.

Sincerely,

Mr. Rusty Ragon

Superintendent
