This past Saturday, members of our Link Crew (NJHS, Student Council, Blue Crew, and Principal's Cabinet) volunteered to help at the PTO's Trunk-or-Treat. Students planned for, set up, and facilitated games in the gym as well as arts and crafts in the Commons for all the families that attended! Awesome job, MJHS students!

MJHS Boys Basketball Tryout begin tomorrow! 7th & 8th Grade Basketball Tryouts start tomorrow at 6:00 am at MJHS in the main gym! 6th grade will be after school. Message Coach Marotta (8th), Coach Van Dyke (7th), or Coach Nelson (6th) with any questions. 5th graders trying out for the 6th grade team should go home and come to MJHS at 2:30. Good luck to all trying out! Go Demons!
Congratulations to our boys' volleyball team on their season, which ended a few weeks ago. Before their DPVC Conference Tournament, the Athletic Boosters and Blue Crew hosted a Pack the Place Night with a Red, White, and Blue theme to go along with an 8th-Grade Celebration! Thanks to all of the fans that came out and showed their Demon Pride by cheering the team on! And thank you, parents, for all of your support of the coaches and team during the season!

MJHS hosted its Fall House Olympics at the end of September, and the gym was rocking with spirit! Students signed up to compete in different events, and Houses were earned more points towards the team trophy for having the most creativity, energy, and more! The competition was fierce and came down to the final event, tug-of-war! Congrats to the Rams for winning the House Trophy after coming out victorious!
A special thank you to our SEL Committee, Mrs. Klaric, Mrs. Worth, Mrs. Senka, Mrs. Flavio, and Ms. Faber, for all their time and efforts that went in to planning and running the event! Thank you to the staff and Principal's Cabinet Leaders for their role during the House Olympics!

Best of luck to our two cross country runners as they compete at the IESA State Cross Country meet today in Normal! Last Saturday, the girls qualified as individuals in one of the toughest 3A Sectionals in the State. A huge shout out to the entire team as 10/11 runners ran personal bests at the meet!

Now that October has begun, it is not lost on us that this month may bring back lots of feelings and emotions for us individually, as a staff, and as a community. Because of this, we will be hosting a "Remembrance Gathering" on Tuesday, October 20th at 6:30 p.m. in the Demon Legacy Garden at the junior high to honor the one-year anniversary of Danny and Chance's untimely passings.
We invite you to join us as a community in honoring both boys as their memories live on through us. This event will be open to the families, the community, and MSD 114 staff. Candles will be available and attendees are welcome to bring items to place in the garden.
