✅ Reminder: All athletes must have a current physical on file before participating in tryouts. Incoming 6th-8th graders may tryout for Cross Country, Softball, and Baseball, while 5th-8th graders may tryout for Boys Volleyball.

More information on Girls and Boys Basketball, Cheerleading, Girls Volleyball, Girls and Boys Wrestling, Bowling, and Track and Field will be coming soon, so stay tuned!

*Community Notice*

Today, July 6th, and tomorrow, July 7th, from 4:00–8:00 p.m., the Manhattan Police Department will be conducting department-wide training at Manhattan Junior High School. Officers will be using the unoccupied building to participate in rapid response and active shooter response training exercises.

This notice is being shared as a courtesy to our community in case you notice an increased police presence at MJHS during these times.

These training exercises reflect the continued partnership between the Manhattan Police Department and Manhattan School District 114 and our shared commitment to preparedness and the safety of our students, staff, and community.

Registration for MJHS Summer Choir Camp is here! Summer choir camp is for ANY 6th, 7th, or 8th grader who is either in choir or interested in becoming a member of the MJHS Demon Choir. No musical experience needed! Choir camp is not required, but highly recommended for singers, especially for students interested in trying out for Madrigals.

MJHS Graduation is Almost Here! 🎓

We are excited to celebrate the accomplishments of the MJHS Class of 2026! Please review the graduation reminders below to help make the ceremony run smoothly for graduates and guests.

It was a busy week at MJHSfull of end-of-the-year activities, especially for our 8th-graders! Wednesday night was our 8th-Grade Dance, which featured the most students we have seen on the "dance floor" in years! Thursday was the Great America Trip for our graduates! And of course, don't forget all the Field Days the amazing PTO put on over two days for our kids! Thanks to all the staff who planned and chaperoned, all the parent volunteers, and all the kids that did an awesome job representing our school with Demon Pride in all of it! (A special thank you to the PTO for the t-shirts for Great America! It was great seeing all that Demon Blue!)

Our last pack pride assembly was a blast! Thank you to all of our students for demonstrating outstanding character this year!

On Tuesday this week, adultS volunteered to present to 8th graders at MJHS about their careers! Students heard information, stories, and advice about being an attorney, photographer, social worker, construction project manager, safety manager in the trades, early childhood education / speech-language pathologist, ER doctor, and a probation officer, directly from those professionals! We appreciate all the community members who made time to share their wisdom with our young adults!

Anna McDonald's Walk, Bike, Roll to school event was a huge success! Thank you to the 150 students, many staff, and Manhattan PD for helping out! A big shout out to Mrs. Bloom and Mrs. Champlin for all of your planning and organizing!

GOOD LUCK, MJHS TRACK & FIELD! Tomorrow and Saturday, 20 talented Manhattan Junior High track athletes will head to Peoria to compete at the IESA State Track Meet! We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and determination these students have shown all season long to earn their spot at the state competition. Please join us in congratulating our athletes and wishing them, along with their coaches, Coach Ethridge, Coach Marotta, Coach Galassi, Coach Van Dyke and Coach Onofre the very best of luck as they represent MJHS and the Demons with pride in royal blue, black, and white! "In STREAM, 5th graders at MIS explored sustainability in the fashion industry by learning about the environmental impact of fast fashion. Using only cardboard, tape, and black marker, students were challenged to design and create functional, creative headwear made entirely from sustainable materials — and their innovative ideas did not disappoint! Check out a few of the MANY amazing designs"
