At tonight's special meeting of our Board of Education, outgoing members were recognized and returning and new members were sworn in. Thank you to Mr. Scott Mancke, Mr. Terry Doyle, and Mr. Donald Knoll for their service to the Manhattan School District. Mr. Mancke spent 38 years on the school board. His time on the board began when Anna McDonald was a K-8 school, our district had under 20 staff members, and just a few hundred students. He was an important part of planning and construction of three of our four Manhattan schools. Mr. Doyle served our board for 8 years. He represented Manhattan 114 on the LWASE District 843 board and played a big part in advocating for the safety and security of our schools. Mr. Knoll joined the board in the summer of 2024 to fill unexpectedly board vacancies. His willingness to serve our district was greatly appreciated. In addition to re-elected members, Mrs. Erica Aultz was officially sworn in as a member tonight. She is a parent in the district and has been an active contributing visitor at board meetings. She is well-prepared and expressed looking forward to working with the other members of the board. The board is seeking candidates to fill two additional seats that are currently vacant. Letters of interest should be sent to Superintendent Pacheco by May 9th for consideration. We look forward to the next chapter for the Manhattan School District 114 community!

Manhattan Junior High Students Explore Illinois History! This week, our MJHS students took an exciting field trip to Springfield, the capital of Illinois! They toured the beautiful State Capitol building, explored Abraham Lincoln’s home, and paid their respects at Lincoln’s tomb and various war memorials. The day was capped off with an inspiring visit to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to experience history firsthand and deepen their appreciation for our state’s rich heritage!
